Proposed Beech Lane redevelopment
St. Modwen in partnership with Pirelli UK Tyres Ltd are working towards submitting a planning application for a development of approximately 200 homes on land adjacent to the Pirelli site on Beech Lane.
The phase 1 application will include upgrades to the Pirelli factory and car park/access improvements. The residential development will be situated on a 20 acre site adjacent to the Trent & Mersey Canal. With the land no longer required for operational purposes, St. Modwen acquired the site from Pirelli UK Tyres Ltd in 2005.
The operational Pirelli factory and associated offices will remain. The scheme is designed so there is no conflict between the new homes and the day to day activities of the factory. As such there will be a particular focus on the boundary between the residential and the Pirelli buildings.
Timescales
- Public consultation autumn 2009
- Phase 1 planning application to be submitted before the end of 2009
- Phase 2 planning application will be subject of future public consultation
